Historic week for girls wrestling

CHENEY - Last week was historic for girls wrestling.

On Tuesday, Jan. 14, the Cheney girls participated in the first-ever Greater Spokane League Dual meet at university High School.

Then on Thursday, Jan. 16, Tekoa-Rosalia participated it its first-ever dual meet, hosting its Dual in the Den at Tekoa High School.

Then a night later, Jan. 17, the NCAA announced that women's wrestling will be added as the 91st championship sport, providing women at Divisions I, II and III schools an opportunity to participate in the fastest growing sport in the United States.
