CHENEY – The City Council approved the 2025-27 labor agreement with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local No. 1919 during its Jan. 14 meeting.
City Manager Mark Schuller highlighted the updates, such as wage increases to match other regional fire departments and a new step-based pay system.
The new pay system is tied to core competencies, designed to encourage growth among fire and EMS personnel.
Schuller described the negotiations as a “collaborative effort” involving city administration, the Fire Department, and the union.
