Third lay-up win against Liberty, 73-63
MEDICAL LAKE – The Medical Lake boys landed a pair of non-league wins last week, 73-63 at home against Liberty on Dec. 13 and in Spangle vs. Upper Columbia Academy, 65-45, Dec. 14.
"Three straight wins is a good place to be," head coach Brett Ward wrote in a text message.
Freshman Gabe Smith scored 21 points with Aiden Suddeth adding 20 for the Cardinals who were dominant in the early going against the Lancers, leading 36-20 at the half.
Lebo Holloway had 11 for ML which improved to 3-2.
Another first-year varsity player, Owen Moffatt, scored 18 points for Medical Lake which had an 18-7 lead after the opening quarter at UCA.
Hudson Gilbert, also a freshman, added 14 and were the only Cards in double-figures that night.
"We are getting better every night," Ward said. "That's how it goes with a young and talented team."
Just how improved Medical Lake is will be measured Dec. 20 Colfax visits. "Huge game on Friday night with the defending state champs coming to town for our toughest test yet," Ward said.
