Eagle women dunk Roadrunners, 67-58
CHENEY — Following a road trip, the nets at Reese Court were looking good for Eastern Washington women’s basketball. Eastern (2-5) defeated winless CSU Bakersfield, 67-58, on Nov. 27, snapping a four-game losing streak.
“We knew that this was a tough game after a long road trip, with little rest,” head coach Joddie Gleason said. “Holding [CSUB] to single digits in the second quarter won us the game,”
After a high-scoring, closely fought first quarter, the Eagles used a 10-2 run to build a double-digit lead at the half. EWU lived through second-chance opportunities, grabbing 19 offensive rebounds in the game. The team scored 19 points off those.
Peyton Howard delivered another 20-point game, scoring 21 on 7-of-18 shooting and 3-of-9 from 3-point range. Howard recorded her third 20-point game and Kourtney Grossman set a new career-high with 12 points off the bench and Ellie Boni added 11.
Eastern traveled for the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge, playing South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D. on Dec. 4.

Eastern introduces next athletes
CHENEY — Eastern Washington introduced the first part of its 2025 signing class on Dec. 4 during the National Letter of Intent Signing Day.
The 2025 Eagle recruits will make their commitment to the school official after signing their national letter of intent. The second signing day will be Feb. 5.

Scotties recognized
FREEMAN — Several Scotties football players have been named to the Northeast 2B – Tier 1 All-League team.
The Scotties were led by senior Michael Anderberg, who shared Defensive MVP honors.
Scotties making First-Team All-League include:
Offense — senior Nash McLean, wide receiver.
Defense —Senior Cody Cayce at linebacker and senior Vance Coyner at defensive back.
Second-Team:
Offense — Junior quarterback Logan Schultz, senior Vance Coyner at wide receiver, and seniors Noah Baker and Michael Armstrong on offensive line.
Defense — Juniors Levi Willner and Noah Baker on defensive line, junior Giovanni Sutherland at linebacker and senior Nash McLean at defensive back.
VOLLEYBALL:
Weber State tops EWU
SACRAMENTO, Calf. — Eastern Washington saw Weber State break a 1-1 tie winning the final two sets in a 3-1 loss in their opening round of the Big Sky Conference volleyball tournament, ending their season Nov. 27.
Weber opened with a 25-22 win and Eastern countered with a 25-23 decision. The Wildcats prevailed 25-14 and 27-25 to capture the match.
Eastern got a strong performance from Bri Gunderson, who recorded 16 kills and Kalista Lukovich, who contributed a double-double with 15 kills and 18 digs. Jannie Blake led EWU in assists with 25, while Kate Hatch chipped in with 18.
