With no public comment received, Cheney City Council closed its 2015 budget hearing and proceeded to unanimously adopt the city’s just over $23.37 million budget.
Stage West Community Theater hosted “It’s a Wonderful Life” by taking the audience back in time to the radio station SWCT for the classic Christmas radio drama.
News of groundbreaking on a proposed $26 million shuttle loading grain terminal near Four Lakes Nov. 14, surprised City of Cheney officials – and they are hoping project proponents talk to them soon about the potential for more rail traffic through the city.

Area farmers were notified they would be eligible for both state and federal financial aid to assist in paying for damage the occurred following violent spring and summer windstorms which passed through the region May 7 and June 30 packing gust of over 50 miles per hour.
The Eastern Washington University Board of Trustees officially approved formation of a computer and engineering sciences program. This vote came after a $19 million facility to house the program had already been constructed.
Sam Houston State drove 75 yards in the game’s final 43 seconds, scoring on 7-yard touchdown pass on the games’ final play to defeat Eastern Washington University 35-34 in an NCAA 1-AA quarterfinal playoff game at Woodward Field. Prior to the game-winning drive, and with Eastern leading 34-28, the Eagles had a 37-yard field goal blocked that would have provided the insurance points.

On the heels of the city’s first snowfall of the season, the Cheney Police Department was warning residents to make sure they moved cars off the streets in order to let plows do their job.
The Cheney School Board elected Donald Lamphere as its new president and learned of the resignation of board member Cindy Zabel.
The Cheney Lady Hawks basketball team has been dominating in their first three games, rolling to a 3-0 start. Contributions from Jenny Hoots and Lisa Anderson keyed recent wins of 51-22 over North Central, 54-34 against Othello after opening with a victory over Riverside.

The Cheney City Council authorized placing a $5,000 contingency fund to study the potential relocation of the Cheney library to new quarters.
Approval was given Nov. 29, by the Spokane County Hearing Examiner, for the redesign of a planned development and re-platting of 270 lots associated with the Four Lakes Golf and Country Club.
Host Eastern Illinois ended the Eastern Washington Women’s basketball five-game win streak as the Eagles ended their eight-day, five-game Midwest road trip.

An electrical rate increase of between 15-20 percent was voted upon unanimously by the Cheney City Council and would go into effect Dec. 22.
Cheney had its first measurable snowfall Dec. 6 as several inches fell in the area.
Medical Lake boys’ basketball coach Jerry Skaife had his Cardinals off to a 3-0 start in nonleague play with victories over Colfax, Sandpoint and defending state B Champions, Reardan.

Sparks from a chainsaw were the likely culprit in a fire the destroyed an estimated 60 tons of hay owned by Wallace Dow on his Harmony Road farm.
A bake sale staged by the Four Lakes Hub Club to benefit the local Parent Teachers Association, along with a performance by Rita’s School of Dance was termed a success after raising $26.
