Trespassing leads to meth arrest
SPOKANE VALLEY – A Spokane Valley Deputy arrested a woman after she allegedly tossed a bag of suspected methamphetamine and then claimed she didn't own the pants she was wearing. The incident took place on Nov. 10, around 9:05 am, when the deputy spotted a suspicious red Ford Focus parked on private property near East Mansfield Avenue and North Robie Street.
The deputy approached 48-year-old Martha A. White, who was digging through the car's passenger side. She claimed to be from out of town and unaware the property was off-limits.
While talking to her, the deputy noticed a glass pipe, commonly used for meth, in the passenger door. White then began to cry as the deputy detained her. As she was escorted to the front of the patrol car, the deputy saw her toss a plastic baggie containing a white crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
White initially denied the baggie was hers and went as far as saying that the pants she was wearing were not hers either.
The man accompanying White stated he had recently met her and offered her a ride to Spokane. He was released without charges. White, who later admitted to using meth days earlier, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was held on $1,000 bail at the Spokane County Jail but is no longer in custody as of November 13.
