Eastern men home to face Cal Poly

CHENEY — Eastern Washington looks to its second home game at Reese Court following a 1-2 start.

The Eagles secured their first win of the year with a thrilling 93-86 victory over Seattle at home. The win was particularly meaningful for head coach Dan Monson, as it marked his inaugural victory with Eastern.

Andrew Cook was the standout player for the Eagles, leading the team with 25 points. He was supported by Mason Williams (18 points), Sebastian Hartmann (16 points), and Emmett Marquardt (14 points).

Eastern followed that with an 84-77 loss at Big-12 Missouri in Nov. 11. Andrew Cook and Williams led the Eagles offensively, scoring 24 and 20 points, respectively.

The Eagles will return home to face off against Cal Poly on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. as part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader.

Eagle women on road at Huskies, home vs. Portland

CHENEY — Eastern Washington will be on the road for one game and at home for one this week. EWU travels to Seattle to play at the University of Washington on Nov. 14, before coming home to play Portland on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m., the first gems of a doubleheader with EWU men.

The Eagles are 1-1 after the first week of the 2024 season, winning their home opener against Walla Walla, 81-33 on Saturday. They fell in the season opener to Washington State, 83-82, in overtime.

Against Walla Walla Ella Gallatin led all scorers with 18 points while Peyton Howard scored a game-high 25 points at WSU.

Walla Walla ends Cheney season in 2OTs

WALLA WALLA — Cheney’s girls soccer season came to an end Nov. 6 at Walla Walla where the Blackhawks lost to the Blue Devils 2-1 in double overtime in a third-round playoff game.

Kinley Collins scored Cheney’s lone goal on a penalty kick in the 78th minute to tie the game at 1-1.

Top-seeded Walla Walla won it with a golden goal in the final minute of the second OT.

Kiah Klauss made six Saves for Cheney which finished the season 7-11.

Eastern loses in playoff shootout

MISSOULA, Mont. - In their first conference tournament appearance since 2019, EWU soccer fell in penalty kicks to the Portland State in the Big Sky Conference quarterfinals.

Grace Terrill scored in the 29th minute giving Eastern a lead that stood until PSU tied it in the 73rd minute.

After 110 minutes of play the teams decided things with a shootout that PSU won 7-6.

Kamryn Willoughby recorded 10 saves, and matched the second most saves in a Big Sky tournament match.

Eastern finished 9-5-5 overall, and third in the Big Sky conference with a 4-1-3 record.

Eagles prepare for final 2024 home match

CHENEY — Eastern Washington is gearing up for their final home match of the season on Senior Day, set for 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 vs. Idaho.

Eastern is coming off a mixed weekend, going 1-1. The Eagles completed the season sweep of Montana State with a five-set victory but fell to Montana in the second match.

Key performances included Sadie Bacon, who posted 12 kills and hit .500, as well as Kalista Lukovich and Tanai Jenkins, who both played a pivotal role in the offense against Montana State.

The team will honor five graduating seniors during a special ceremony before the match.

Those being honored being honored are Sadie Bacon, Jannie Blake, Mackenna Thayne, Mckenna Collins and Kate Hatch.
