Women's auxiliary recognized local veterans

Military clubs join in remembrance

CHENEY – The Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 72 hosted a Veterans Recognition Dinner on Nov. 11 at the Wren Pierson Building.

The event brought together veterans from the local community and neighboring Medical Lake, as well as members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11326, for an evening of camaraderie and appreciation. Attendees included veterans who served in the Korean War, Vietnam War, and more recent conflicts in the Middle East. Representatives from all four branches of the military-Air Force, Army, Marines, and Navy-were honored.

The ceremony began with Boy Scout Troop 356, led by Dean Wilson, presenting and posting the colors in a solemn display of respect.

During the dinner, officers of the Women's Auxiliary individually recognized each veteran, sharing their names, deployment histories, and years of service. Following this tribute, Boy Scouts and Salnave Elementary School students distributed handmade thank-you cards. The cards, crafted under the guidance of teacher Susan Ford, added a personal and touching note to the evening.

The event served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by these servicemen and women and the enduring gratitude of the community.
