Artists annual event

MEDICAL LAKE – The 14th Annual Slightly West of Spokane Artists Studio Tour will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 30

The tour features 13 local artists in 7 different studios on a self-guided tour around the Cheney-Medical Lake area. The event is free to the public.

Cheney’s 17th Annual Turkey Trot

CHENEY – The 17th Annual Turkey Trot takes place at 9 a.m. Nov. 28 at Cheney High School, 460 N. Sixth St.

This event is open to Thanksgiving Day walkers, runners and your dog, too. You can receive a ticket for drawings to win a turkey and other prizes.

Portion of the race fee will be donated to Cheney food bank.

City Planning Commission Meeting

MEDICAL LAKE – The City’s Planning Commission has adjusted its meeting schedule for November due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The meeting will now take place on Nov. 21, at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall.

During the session, the commission will focus on updating the city’s comprehensive plan. This essential decision-making tool reflects the community’s vision for the future, anticipating changes and establishing policies and programs to guide city’s growth and development. Residents are encouraged to attend and participate.

Council meeting scheduled

CHENEY – The City Council will conduct a public meeting on Nov. 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers in city hall, 609 2nd Street.

Comments for the council may be submitted via email or by dropping off written comments in the drop box at city hall. All comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting whichever way meets their needs, virtually or in person. City’s web page has the link to watch virtually.

WinterFest 2024 slated for Dec. 6

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – The city hosts their annual WinterFest by ringing in the holiday season with family, friends and neighbors for 2024.

On Dec. 6 from 6-8 p.m., the city will light up their community tree and fireworks show at Sunset Park.

On Dec. 7 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Kiwanis Club will be hosting a breakfast and pictures with Santa at the city recreation center.
