Eastern partners with Toys for Tots

Donations at special locations

CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington University Athletics has announced a partnership with the Eastern Washington University Veterans Resource Center and Spokane Toys for Tots for the upcoming basketball season.

This collaboration aims to support the local community by expanding donation efforts and spreading holiday cheer to children in need.

Throughout the season, Eastern will collect toy donations at five men’s and women’s basketball games. Fans attending games at Reese Court can drop off toys at designated collection boxes located at the main entrance and the student entrance.

For those unable to attend games, donations can be made on non-game days at the Physical Education Building or the Veterans Resource Center in Showalter Hall.

As a token of appreciation, donors will receive a buy-one-get-one (BOGO) ticket voucher for a future game.

Making a Difference Since 1947

Toys for Tots, established in 1947, has been instrumental in brightening the holidays for children from low-income families. Eastern’s Veterans Resource Center has a strong history with the charity, contributing to an effort that provided toys to over 8,500 children in 2022.

Donation Deadlines and Game Schedule

Donations for this year’s drive must be submitted by Dec. 12, with toys delivered to Spokane Toys for Tots. The collection schedule at Reese Court includes the following games:

MBB/WBB Doubleheader: Sunday, Nov. 17 - 2 p.m. & 4 p.m.

MBB: Wednesday, Dec. 4, vs. North Dakota - 6 p.m.
