State senator district #4 race

SPOKANE COUNTY – Ted Cummings, Democratic candidate for Washington State House in Legislative District 4, expressed strong disappointment in the outcome of his race and broader election results, citing concerns over the political direction among voters.

“I’m very disappointed,” Cummings stated in an interview Tuesday evening. “I had hoped that people would have rejected this whole MAGA Republican movement and vote in their own best interest. But people are okay with supporting hate and outright lies.”

With election results confirming his loss, Cummings reached out to congratulate his opponent, Republican Robert S. Chase, and acknowledged the race’s challenges. “I wish I would have won, but people voted for people who are not rational, full-on conspiracy theorists,” he said. “Time will tell on the impact of Mr. Chase.”

Despite the defeat, Cummings expressed pride in his campaign efforts and gratitude toward his supporters. “I’m proud of the effort I put in, and I’m so grateful for the support I had,” he said. Cummings also shared his disappointment in the national election landscape, stating that he was saddened by what he described as a stark contrast between “right and wrong” in the country’s politics.

His opponent, Robert S. Chase, could not be reached for comment on Tuesday night.
