GEIGER HEIGHTS – A man arrested Oct. 30 after threatening to kill another man has already been released from jail.
Jessie James Marshall, 39, faces two felony charges: harassment with threats to kill and possession of an unlawful firearm.
Marshall was booked into the Spokane County Jail.on Oct. 30, but has since been released, jail records show.
He was arrested after allegedly threatening to kill a man in his motorhome in the 10700 block of West Geiger Boulevard around 3:35 p.m. tjat day, records show.
According to reports, Marshall entered the victim’s motorhome and accused him of stealing a firearm, records show. Marshall, wielding a baseball bat, threatened to hit the victim in the head if the gun wasn’t returned.
The victim attempted to calm Marshall down, but Marshall repeated his threat several times, records show. He eventually left the motorhome after being persuaded by a woman who was present.
The Sheriff’s Office has yet to release the names of the victim and woman, even though they are public record under state law. The man and woman contacted law enforcement about Marshall’s aggression and said he had previously made ominous remarks implying that people were in danger.
Deputies located Marshall’s camper, records show. But while they were preparing to call him out, Marshall was spotted nearby.
Deputies responded to his location, records show. He took a fighting stance and ignored their commands.
He then fled by jumping a fence and running back to his camper, records show. Deputies using Tasers twice tried unsuccessfully to prevent him from reentering. Marshall barricaded himself.
Deputies call in the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, crisis negotiators, K9 units, Explosive Ordnance Unit, and Air Support Unit.
The standoff ended after several hours when deputies used chemicals to force him out of the camper, records show. He was taken into custody around 7:45 p.m.
A subsequent search of the camper yielded the baseball bat and a modified, short-barreled 12-gauge shotgun, records show.
