CHENEY - Democrat Bob Ferguson is headed to the governor's mansion.
At the end of Election Night counting, Tuesday, Nov. 5, Ferguson had a sizeable lead - more than 331,000 votes - over Republican Dave Reichert in their bids to replace Gov. Jay Inslee. Ferguson had 56.3% of the vote; Reichert had 43.5%.
The race is closer in Eastern Washington, with Reichert leading in rural areas:
Lincoln County: Reichert has 76.3% (3,961 votes), while Ferguson holds 23.4% (1,216 votes).
Whitman County: Reichert leads slightly with 51.0% (5,789 votes) to Ferguson's 48.8% (5,538 votes).
Adams County: Reichert has 76.2% (2,158 votes), while Ferguson has 23.8% (674 votes).
Franklin County: Reichert leads with 65.4% (14,799 votes) to Ferguson's 34.6% (7,830 votes).
Spokane County: Reichert is ahead with 53.9% (112,156 votes), while Ferguson has 45.9% (95,373 votes).
More than 2.5 million votes have been counted statewide, with 4,892 write-ins recorded.
Despite Reichert winning in 27 counties, mostly in Eastern Washington, Ferguson's overall lead in urban counties and Western Washington put him more than 331,000 votes ahead with victories in just 13 counties.
Election results will be certified Nov. 26.
