Pedestrian injured in crash east of Spokane

SPOKANE – On Oct. 28 at approximately 8:50 am, a serious injury occurred on W206 Peone Road, about six miles east of Spokane. The incident involved two vehicles and resulted in injuries to a pedestrian.

The injured pedestrian, who was identified as 53-year-old Paul Weber, from Spokane, was injured after being struck while WSDOT workers were loading a dead animal onto a truck. Weber was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment.

The truck driver, Kenneth Massender, 75, of Mead, was also injured and taken to the hospital. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Serious accident on I-90 involves semi-truck

SPOKANE VALLEY – A serious injury collision took place on Oct. 25 at around 4:09 pm on Interstate 90 in Spokane Valley, involving one passenger vehicle and a semi-truck. The accident happened in the two right lanes, causing a partial blockage of the roadway.

Washington State Trooper S. Self was on the scene of the crash. Details about injuries were not immediately available, and it is still unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

Emergency personnel were present to manage traffic and ensure safety. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Drone technology aids missing person search

SPOKANE VALLEY – On Saturday, Oct. 26, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residential alarm on East Custer Lane, west of the Iller Creek Conservation Area. Although the alarm was determined to be false, deputies discovered that a vulnerable man was missing from the residence.

To locate the man, additional deputies, including a UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) operator, responded to the scene. At around 5:35 am, the drone operator detected a heat signature in nearby bushes. The deputies were guided to the location and found the missing man, who was extremely cold and confused but uninjured.

Medical assistance was provided at the scene before the man was transported to the hospital for precautionary care.
