Suspect charged with hit-and-run
SPOKANE VALLEY – Deputies apprehended 28-year-old Tyler L. Adams following a hit-and-run collision where he crashed into another vehicle and fled. They suspected he was impaired during the incident. Witnesses tracked Adams until law enforcement arrived, noting his erratic behavior.
On Oct. 16, at approximately 2:20 pm, deputies responded to a reported injury collision at the intersection of East Appleway Avenue and North Corbin Road. When law enforcement arrived, they discovered that the victim's vehicle flipped on its side due to the impact.
Witnesses reported that they had followed the suspect to South Steen Road, near the Appleway Trail. Adams was detained at that location for questioning.
Adams displayed signs of distress, stating, "I am sorry. This is all my fault."
Deputies noted that his eyes were bloodshot and watery, his speech was slurred, and there was a strong smell of alcohol. When advised of his rights, Adams declined to answer questions..
Witnesses explained that the victim driver had been stopped at a red light. When it turned green, he proceeded into the intersection. Adams, driving a silver Cadillac at a high speed, ran the red light, and crashed into the victim's Chevrolet Suburban, causing it to overturn. After this, Adams fled the scene.
The victim sustained minor injuries and received medical attention. Adams suffered abrasions to his forehead and complained of pain. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Suspected of being impaired, deputies obtained a search warrant for a blood sample from Adams for later testing. After being medically cleared, he was booked into Spokane County Jail for felony hit-and-run with injury and DUI.
