Freeman soccer adds three more wins

FREEMAN ‑ The Freeman soccer machine continued its dominating season with three victories last week and improved to 11-0 in Northeast 2B play and 13-0 overall.

Freeman wrapped league wins of 2-1 against Northwest Christian on Oct. 17 and 11-0 against Upper Columbia Academy, Oct. 22, around an 11-0 win over Warden, 11-0 on Oct. 19.

In a rematch of an earlier close 4-3 win over the Crusaders back on Sept. 24, the Scotties built a 2-0 lead on goals from Rylee Russell at 18 minutes and Avery Gass in the 54th minute.

Freeman outshot NWC 17 to 11 with Kelsey Hollen making 10 saves.

Russell, the state’s leading scorer, notched another six goals, pus an assist, against Warden. Other Freeman goals came from Morgan Lamotte, Phyllis Prosser, Aneke Haskins, Aubrey Gregory, plus an own goal.

Hollen was tested with just one shot and a save in earring the shutout.

Returning to league play it was Aubrey Gregory’s turn scoring as she collected three goals as the Scotties built an 8-0 first half lead.

Russell’s two scores pushed her totals to 40 and Freeman got singles from Avery Gass, Morgan Lamotte, McKenna Finley, Claire Berryman, Rowan McGarity and Prosser.

Hollen and Claire Poulsen combined for the shutout.

The Scotties conclude regular season play at Kettle Falls, Oct. 24 and at Davenport, Oct. 31.
