Eastern, Whitworth to meet on hardwood Saturday, Oct. 26

CHENEY — Hoops season is officially here.

The 2024-25 Eastern Men’s Basketball schedule tips off with an exhibition game at Reese Court against Whitworth at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, offering fans a first glimpse of the revamped roster.

Eastern’s women will entertain Eastern Oregon in an exhibition game the following afternoon, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.

Under the guidance of new head coach Dan Monson, there’s a strong focus on continuing the momentum from last season that included a 15-3 record, a Big Sky regular season title and 21-11 overall record.

Returning to the court are six key players from last season’s championship squad, including guards Mason Williams and Nic McClain, who will look to lead the team once again. They’ll be joined by Vice Zanki, Sebastian Hartmann, Jackson Seale and Emmett Marquardt, all of whom bring valuable experience and skill to the roster.

Monson has also brought in a talented group of transfers to bolster the team’s depth.

Notable additions include Angelo Winkle and Elijah Thomas from Des Moines Area Community College, Tyler Powell from Nevada, and Maddox Monson and Shaumba Ngoyi from Long Beach State. The Eagles also welcome Sam Stockton from LC State, Pavlo Dziuba from North Carolina High Point, and Andrew Cook from Carroll College, each expected to make an immediate impact.
