Cheney put all seven boy’s runners inside the top-10 and raced to a comfortable Greater Spokane League cross country victories, Oct. 16.
Cheney eased past Ferris 18-45 and Ridgeline, 15-50.
“(It was a) great day overall, only a few PRs on the chilly night, but lots of great efforts,” head coach Derek Slaughter wrote in an email.
Samuel Hilton led the Blackhawks’ dome action with a 16 minute 46.24 second time, just six seconds ahead of Cameron Frenk’s 16:52.33.
Ferris’s Parker Lemmon (16:58.41) broke up a potential Cheney sweep with his third-place showing.
Brayden Martin (4th/16:58.67), Lucas Matos (5th/17:02.63), Holland Hurd (6th/17:09.17), Lucas Curley (7th/17:12.49 and Andrew Ward (8th/17:14.09) completed the Cheney finish.
“(A) 19:00 is our varsity time to letter in cross country and we have a bunch of athletes right about to break that time,” Slaughter said. “That was what I was most excited about.”
According to Ahtletic.net, Cheney’s girls lost to Ridgeline 38-44 and Ferris 41-44.
Abigail Scharosch (4th/20:53.04) was the Blackhawks’ top female in fourth followed by Isabella Adaszewski (5th/21:21.66) and Hannah Ward (6th/21:30.34) were other Cheney runners in the top 10.
Cheney traveled to Spokane’s Manito Park Oct. 22 in a race to decide the 2024 GSL regular season with Mt. Spokane and host Lewis and Clark.
