Suspect arrested for burglarizing business

Tools and meth found in search

GEIGER HEIGHTS – Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended a man suspected of attempting to burglarize a closed business. The incident took place on October 13, at around 3:50 am at Westside Motor Sports, located at 4201 South Grover Road.

The business manager reported seeing a man, later identified as 38-year-old Allen K. York Jr., on security video inside the fenced property. Deputies arrived on the scene and detained York Jr. without incident.

After being advised of his rights, York confessed to entering the fenced area and attempting to steal brackets and other items. A records check revealed two active misdemeanor warrants for assault.

During a subsequent search, deputies discovered burglary tools, a lock pick set, and a black container containing a substance later confirmed to be methamphetamine.

The manager expressed a desire to press charges, noting that his business had previously been a victim of break-ins. York was booked into Spokane County Jail on multiple charges, including burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft, and possession of a controlled substance.

On Oct. 14, York made his first appearance in Spokane County Superior Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
