Spokane Airport promotes Bartz as duty manager
SPOKANE – Spokane International Airport has announced the promotion of Weber Bartz to Airport Duty Manager. In this new role, Bartz will join the senior Operations team, responsible for managing day-to-day activities across the airfield, terminal, and landside areas, ensuring safety and operational efficiency for passengers and cargo.
Bartz, who joined the airport in 2021 as an operations specialist, has been recognized for his dedication to accurate reporting, teamwork, and problem-solving during critical situations. “Weber has consistently demonstrated a commitment to operational excellence and customer service,” said Larry Krauter, CEO of Spokane Airports. “We are excited to support him in this leadership position.”
Before joining Spokane Airports, Bartz gained experience in fuel and aircraft management at Granite Aviation and Corporate Air Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Commercial/Corporate Aviation from Liberty University and is a multi-engine rated commercial pilot.
EWU launches $100 million to support student success
CHENEY - Eastern Washington University (EWU) has launched the public phase of a $100 million fundraising campaign aimed at enhancing student success and opportunity. The “Build Our Future” campaign, EWU’s first comprehensive effort of this kind, has already raised $67 million, helping to award nearly 5,000 scholarships and supporting various student-focused initiatives.
EWU President Shari McMahan emphasized the campaign’s importance for transforming lives through education. “This effort will allow us to expand opportunities and ensure Eastern remains a place where students thrive and where new ideas shape our collective future,” she said.
The 10-year campaign, which began quietly seven years ago, focuses on key objectives such as attracting and retaining top talent, expanding research and internship opportunities, and strengthening partnerships with businesses and organizations.
