Police seek information on hit-and-run

Victim in stable condition

CHENEY—The Cheney Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian injured on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred on Oct. 5 around 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of 1st Street and College Hill Street. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk, according to the Cheney Police Department. The vehicle was reported to be traveling southbound on 1st Street and did not stop after hitting the pedestrian.

Witnesses told police the vehicle continued southbound without slowing down. The pedestrian was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane to be treated for several injuries. The victim is in stable condition.

As of today, no new witnesses have come forward, and the driver and vehicle remain unidentified.

“We have asked the public for assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver that was involved,” said Sgt. Zeb Campbell of the Cheney Police Department. “As of today, we have not identified the vehicle or driver of the vehicle, and we have not had any additional witnesses come forward.”
