Cheney high serves 5,000 weekly
The Cheney School District’s meal program is providing over 22,700 meals each week across its schools, according to Finance Director Jamie Reed’s report during the Oct. 9 board meeting.
Reed said Cheney High School alone serves nearly 5,000 meals weekly, offering both breakfast and lunch to students. She also noted that some schools, like Salnave Elementary and Three Springs High School, don’t have kitchens large enough to make meals from scratch, so the district transports prepared meals to those locations.
“We make scratch-made meals, but there are three schools whose kitchens are not large enough to accommodate that,” Reed said.
The district is continuing to evaluate how to best serve meals to all students while balancing space limitations in some facilities.
