Coat Drive

CHENEY – Cheney Helping Cheney Community Coat Drive is accepting new coats only at businesses and churches in Cheney.

Distribution will be on Oct. 26 at the Wren Pierson Community Center on C Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A second distribution will be on Oct. 28 at Feed Cheney in the Wren Pierson from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The culinary arts class at Cheney High School prepares the hot meals each month thus creating an additional resource for families.

There is no qualifying criteria to get coats. Anyone who wants or needs coats can get them.

Fall Festival

MEDICAL LAKE – Re*Imagine Medical Lake will be hosting a Fall Festival on Oct. 26 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the high school bus loop.

This annual event will have 20 stocked and decorated trunks for the trunk-or-treat event from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. along with a cake walk throughout the day.

Free pumpkins will be given away for carving and pumpkin bowling. Kiwanis will be giving away free bike helmets as Re*Imagine Medical Lake will be giving away six brand new bikes, too.

For the kids there will be large inflatable toys and bouncy castles, costume contest and games.

City council meeting

CHENEY – City council will conduct a public meeting on Oct. 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers in city hall, 609 2nd Street.

Comments for the council may be submitted via email or by dropping off written comments in the drop box at city hall. All comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting whichever way meets their needs, virtually or in person. City’s web page has the link to watch virtually.

Trunk or Treat

Cheney Members Association is hosting a Trunk or Treat event at the upper Eastern Washington University parking lot to get treats from members of the association on Oct. 25 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

It is free and for the whole family.

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – City council will conduct a public meeting on Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the city court house, 13120 W. 13th Ave.

Gray Fire Community Meeting

MEDICAL LAKE – A Gray Fire Recovery Community Meeting will take place on Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the city’s council chambers, 124 Lefevre Street.

The topics they will cover is Partner Agency Updates and the Insurance Commissioner’s Office.

Farmers Market

CHENEY – The Farmers Market group will be hosting a farmers market at Veterans Memorial Park on 4th Street across the street from the fire station on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This market features a wide range of vendors offering locally grown produce, flowers, raised meat, jams, scratch-made baked goods, tinctures, handcrafted arts, crafts jewelry and more.

City council budget meeting

MEDICAL LAKE – City council will conduct a public hearing at the meeting on the 2025 budget revenue sources and property tax on Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in city hall.

Attendees can publicly comment on the topic in person or by submit in writing comments to the city administrator, Sonny Weathers.

They will also offer a link to view the meeting by going to their city web site page.

City council budget workshop

CHENEY – City council will be having a special meeting concerning the city budget for next year at city hall, today at 4 p.m.

This budget workshop will go over the budget process and priorities on how the city will spend their money next year.
