Three vehicles involved in incident

SPRAGUE — A Spokane Valley man was killed in an early morning crash Saturday, Sept. 28, on Interstate 90.

Craig E. Richardt, 61, of Spokane Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 4:42 a.m. near Milepost 236.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred about 11 miles west of Sprague, near the south end of Sprague Lake in Adams County.

Lloyd O. Arbaugh, 89, of Moses Lake, was westbound in a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup when he struck Richardt’s westbound 2009 Toyota Corolla, the patrol reported, noting both vehicles were in the left lane.

Debris from the crash hit a third westbound vehicle, a 2013 Volkswagen Passat driven Russell D. Marshall, 61 of Ritzville, the patrol reported.

Arbaugh was injured in the crash and transported to East Adams Rural Healthcare in Ritzville, the patrol said. Richardt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richardt’s family was notified of his death by a state patrol chaplain.

Marshall was not injured, the patrol reported, and was able to drive his Passat away from the scene after being cleared by troopers.

All three drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, the patrol reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and charges are pending against Arbaugh, the patrol reported.

Neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the fatal crash, the patrol reported.

The Ram pickup and Corolla were destroyed in the crash, the patrol said.
