Dr. Lauren Charles Bathurst of Cheney, Wash., passed away at age 77 on Aug. 12, 2024. Lauren was born Jan. 6, 1947 in Bremerton, Wash. to John and Arla Bathurst. Lauren grew up in Port Orchard and Bremerton, Wash. and after graduation earned his Bachelor's Degree in History from Western Washington University.  After a series of back surgeries failed to cure Lauren's chronic back pain, he was introduced to the benefits of chiropractic care and was inspired to himself become a chiropractor.  In 1978, he earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA.  In 1980, Lauren and his family moved to Spokane, where he opened a chiropractic clinic.  In 1992, Lauren moved to Cheney, where opened Cheney Spinal Care.  He continued treating patients at his practice in Cheney over the next 20 years until retiring in 2012.

Lauren kept active with many hobbies.  He loved acting, traveling, boating, trivia, and watching all varieties of sports.  As a loving father, grandfather, and friend, he especially enjoyed these activities when doing them with those he loved.  Over the years, Lauren acted in hundreds of performances with various local community theater groups. He relished his many roles including Big Daddy in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, King Triton in Little Mermaid, and The Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz. Lauren loved playing trivia, competing valiantly with his team Kevin Bacon at Eagles Pub Trivia Night for more than 25 years.  Lauren also loved to travel.  He made many trips abroad, bringing his kids and grandkids whenever possible.  He was fortunate enough to see the Vatican and Sistine Chapel and take his grandkids on a tour of Scotland.

Lauren is survived by his four children: Toby Bathurst, Adrian Bathurst, Suzi Lucas, and Nathan Bathurst; his eight grandchildren: Alyssa Peterson, Mason Bathurst, Sofia Bathurst, Audrey Bathurst, Kayli Lucas, Julia Lucas, Clark Bathurst, and Edison Bathurst; his sister: Debbie Kim, and the many friends we know he held so dear.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Spokane Civic Theatre @ Spokanecivictheatre.com.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Lauren on Nov. 17 2024 at Eagles Pub in Cheney, WA.
