Man facing many charges
AIRWAY HEIGHTS – A local man is being held on $30,000 bail after allegedly shooting at a woman Sept. 24.
Miguel Arreola, 22, is in the Spokane County Jail, facing charges of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm due to a prior conviction, harassment-threat to kill and possession of a stolen firearm.
He was arrested at about 1 a.m. Sept. 24 on U.S. Highway 2 while allegedly fleeing from a shooting at the Deer Park Apartment complex in Spokane, court records show. A woman - whose name is public, but has yet to be released by police - called 911, claiming that a man had shot at her.
Arriving police found the woman, who described the suspect as a white man wearing black clothing, driving a black Jetta, records show. While responding, police spotted a black Jetta eastbound on U.S. Highway 2 near Spotted Road.
Police stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, who was later identified as Arreola, records show. Arreola agreed to speak with police. Initially, he appeared confused, but later claimed the woman had shot at him.
However, the woman told deputies a different story.
She said she had met Arreola through an app and decided to meet him, records show. During their meeting in his car, she rejected his advances and he became angry, held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her.
The victim said she escaped the vehicle when Arreola fired a shot, records show. During a subsequent search of his vehicle, police found a spent 9 mm shell casing on the drivers seat of Arreola's car, records show.
