Eastern celebrates Neighbor Festival

More than 170 booths available

CHENEY – Eastern Washington University recently WHEN and WHERE hosted Neighbor Festival, uniting over 1,000 students, staff and community members.

The event was designed to strengthen the connection between the university and commuinity at the start of the academic year.

This year's festival featured more than 175 booths, offering a range of information and resources about student organizations, businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Attendees had the opportunity to explore fraternities, sororities and cultural organizations.

New England-based folk duo Tall Heights and Eastern's own Damn Dirty Apes performed live, enhancing the community spirit.

"Neighbor Festival is an opportunity for the university and Spokane and Cheney to come together, highlight our great programs and resources, and celebrate our shared communities," Eastern Associate Vice President for Student Life Amy Johnson said.

Samantha Armstrong-Ash, the leadership education adviser for student activities, echoed her sentiment.

"Beyond the excitement of connecting with one another, we offer music, food and interactive components throughout the festival," Armstrong-Ash said. "Never underestimate the power of free food and swag."
