Liberty boys fall to Spartans, 19-13

Freeman, Newport still undefeated

GRANGER — The Liberty boys were upended by the Granger Spartans in a non-league Class 2B football game Saturday, Sept. 21.

The undefeated Spartans (3-0) took a 19-13 win over the Lancers (1-2) from Spangle.

Individual statistics were not reported for the game.

This week, the Lancers travel to Kettle Falls to take on the Bulldogs.

Kick off is at 7 p.m. Friday night, Sept. 27.

Kettle Falls (1-1) oppened the season Sept. 6 with a 46-8 victory over the Tonasket Tigers, but then lost 33-0 to Colfax on Sept. 13.

In other Class 2B games last weekend, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos lost on the road to the Newport Grizzlies, 19-14.

The undefeated Grizzlies (3-0) are tied atop the NE2B with Freeman and Asotin, both at 3-0.

For Newport and Freeman, this is the first season for the teams to play in Class 2B. Both schools dropped out of the NEA, the league in which Medical Lake still competes.

Reardan, too, had a tough time over the weekend, losing 31-18, to the Jenkins (Chewelah) Cougars.

Reardan and Jenkins are both 2-1 so far this season.
