Ferris girls soccer shuts Cheney down

CHENEY – The Ferris Saxons (3-0) continued their dominant start to the season with a 3-0 victory over the Cheney Blackhawks (1-1) in a non-league soccer matchup on Sept. 11 at Oswald Field.

Ranked as the top team in Washington state, Ferris took control early, showcasing their cohesive team play and relentless offense. The Saxons applied consistent pressure throughout the match, breaking through Cheney’s defense to score three unanswered goals. Meanwhile, Ferris’ back-line remained rock solid, keeping the Blackhawks scoreless and securing a clean sheet.

Cheney will look to recover as they prepare for their next non-league clash against the Clarkston Bantams in Clarkston.

Clarkston, coming off a 4-1 win over Central Valley, presents a new challenge for the Blackhawks. Cheney is focused on tightening their defense and improving their offensive execution as they seek to bounce back and hope to learn some tough new skills playing the No. 1 team in the state.

Both teams are at crucial points early in the season, with each match playing a role in shaping their trajectory. While Ferris aims to maintain their undefeated record, Cheney is determined to prove its resilience and rebound from this setback.
