Community Day

CHENEY – Cheney High School Blackhawk Band Parent Booster hosts their second annual Community Day at the high school on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.

This is a family-friendly fundraising event open to everyone. They will have carnival games, dunk tank, vendors, carnival games and more. The grand event is a performance by the marching band at 3 p.m.

This event is to raise money to send the high school marching band to compete in Indianapolis this fall.

Book Club

Cheney Book Club will meet Sept. 24th in the Cheney Library meeting room. The book that they will be discussing is The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride.

This event is open to everyone and will start at 6:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.

Medical Lake Farmers Market

MEDICAL LAKE – Re*Imagine Medical Lake will be hosting a farmers market on LaFevre and Lake streets on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This market features a wind range of vendors offering locally grown produce, flowers, raised meat, jams, scratch-made baked goods, tinctures, handcrafted arts, crafts jewelry and more.

Tree Planting Event

CHENEY – Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge will host their annual tree planting event on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

They are celebrating National Public Lands Day and National Wildlife Refuge Week with this shared stewardship event, according to their news flyer. This is a free event.

Coat Drive

CHENEY – Cheney Helping Cheney Community Coat Drive is accepting new coats only at businesses and churches in Cheney.

Distribution will be on Oct. 26 at the Wren Pierson Community Center on C Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A second distribution will be on Oct. 28 at Cheney Cupboard under Wren Pierson in the back on 3rd Street from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

There is no qualifying criteria to get coats. Anyone who wants or needs coats can get them.

Construction work

McFarlane Road will be closed from Burlington Northern-Santa Fe crossing to Brooks Road Sept. 19-20.
