Motorcyclist killed in collision near Deep Creek (Update)

DEEP CREEK – Dashani M. Broomfield, a 21-year-old from Ford, tragically lost his life Tuesday evening in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Brooks Road and U.S. Highway 2.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Broomfield was riding his 2006 Yamaha YZFR6 eastbound on Highway 2 at approximately 11:31 p.m. when he collided with a 2006 Ford Expedition driven by Kayleigh Roop, 18, from St. Maries, Idaho. Roop was attempting to turn left onto Brooks Road when the crash occurred.

The motorcycle came to a stop, blocking the westbound lanes of the highway, while the Expedition remained in the eastbound lanes, disrupting traffic in both directions.

Broomfield was pronounced dead at the scene. Roop, who was unharmed in the crash, is not facing charges. Speeding was identified as a contributing factor in the collision, according to the report.
