Eags volleyball team digs new floor at Reece Court

Close match against Wazzu

CHENEY – Eastern Washington University's volleyball team put up a fight in a five-set match against Washington State on Monday evening at Reese Court, debuting their new floor.

Despite their best efforts, the Eagles narrowly fell 2-3 to the Cougars in a hard-fought contest.

Just days earlier, Eastern faced Washington State in Pullman on Friday, where they lost 1-3 in another competitive match.

Bri Gunderson led the charge for the Eagles, delivering a standout performance with a season-high 15 kills and eight blocks, setting a personal best for the season. Jannie Blake orchestrated the offense with precision, tallying 20 assists, while Kate Hatch was close behind with 19, showcasing their depth at the setter position.

Looking ahead, the Eagles will take their determination on the road as they head to Toledo, Ohio, for the Rocket Invitational. Their first match is scheduled for tomorrow against host Toledo. Later that day, Eastern will face Marshall at 1:30 p.m.

The tournament will wrap up for the Eagles on Saturday morning with an early 7 a.m. showdown against Northern Kentucky. All times are listed in the Eastern Time Zone as the Eagles prepare for a challenging weekend of non-conference play.
