Boy hit by Jeep on Melville Road

FOUR LAKES – A local boy died Sept. 1 at Sacred Heart Hospital from blunt force injuries of the head in which he sustained when he was hit by a Jeep last month.

Jakob Donald-William Town, 17, Medical Lake, was struck by a Jeep on Aug. 27 at approximately 8:30 p.m. on 12600 block of West Melville Road near Four Lakes while helping a friend to check the load in the bed of his truck, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office records show.

According to the records, Town's friend parked his Dodge Truck on the side of the westbound lane of travel, partially blocking the roadway to check his tie-down straps.

Town got out of the truck and stood near the center line of the road, toward the front of the Dodge.

An adult female driver of a Jeep was driving eastbound when she struck Town.

She immediately stopped her Jeep to provide aid to the teenager, and she stayed at the scene of the accident.

After arrival, multiple emergency vehicles arrived including Spokane County Fire District 3 firefighters and AMR medics to provided aid to Town.

According to the records, both vehicles' had headlights on at the time of the incident. Town was wearing dark clothing, and this was an accident as speed and impairment were not believed to be factors in the accident.
