Morning traffic encounters challenges
A Washington State Department of Transportation repairman fixes the light while traffic below him proceed to their destinations on Aug. 28.
CHENEY – On August 28, a semi-truck with an oversize load struck the traffic light while making a turn onto 1st Street.
This collision caused significant damage to the traffic light facing eastbound vehicles at the intersection of 1st Street and Cheney-Spangle Road.
As a result, Wednesday morning traffic was directed to a four-way stop while the Washington State Department of Transportation worked on repairs.
The damaged light led to increased congestion and long backups in the area. By lunchtime, maintenance crews had successfully repaired the traffic light, restoring normal traffic flow.
