Nancy Rueppel

Aug. 6, 2024- Sept. 21, 1944

Nancy Rueppel passed away on Aug. 6, 2024. She was born in Cheney, Wash., on Sept. 21, 1944, to Wayne and Irene Rueppel, the fourth of seven children. Nancy attended Cheney High School and graduated in 1962.

Nancy spent most of her working years as a Veterinary Assistant at Cheney Veterinary Clinic. After leaving there, she worked in Housekeeping at Eastern Washington University (EWU) until her retirement. She lived her entire life on the family farm, where she carried on her great-grandfather's legacy of cattle farming. When she wasn't at home working on the ranch, she enjoyed attending horse sales in many small towns. Her many nieces and nephews have fond memories of riding horses at the farm, baking Christmas cookies, annual trips to Spokane for school supplies, and the early Saturday morning drives to Spokane Valley to watch her get her infamous beehive hairdo.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Irene; her sisters, Shirley, Helen, and Carol; her brother, Gary; and her nieces, Nina Iles, Irene Black, and Maurceen. She is survived by her brother, Randy Rueppel (Lynn); her sister, Janet Stitt; her nieces, Nancy Titus, Carol Robinette (Larry), and Ella Roberts (Tim); as well as multiple great-nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Sutton Park in Cheney. The family suggests memorials be made to the Cheney Historical Museum in lieu of flowers.
