The Cheney Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at the regular Planning Commission meeting on Monday, September 9, 2024, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, meaning that the public may attend in person, at the Cheney City Hall, 609 2nd Street, or VIRTUALLY, via Zoom. Comments will be accepted from both in-person and virtual attendees. A web link to the Zoom Meeting will be posted on the City’s website, http://www.cityofcheney.org, closer to the hearing date. The public is encouraged to attend.

The City of Cheney Planning Commission will be holding a public hearing on September 9th, 2024 to discuss Urban Poultry Keeping. The purpose of this ordinance is to offer some clarity as to the number of “small fowl” (chickens) that should be allowed on a residential lot. The ordinance is recommending that on lots less than 10,000 square feet in size, that no more than six fowl be permitted, and no roosters. Other provisions include making sure that chicken coops are kept clean and located within the rear yard of a property
