Refueling Wing wins Omaha Trophy

Command recognized for exceptional performance

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE – The 92nd Air Refueling Wing was honored with the 2023 Omaha Trophy in the Global Operations category during a ceremony here Aug. 7.

U.S. Air Force Gen. Anthony Cotton, the commander of U.S. Strategic Command, presented the award to the wing for its exceptional performance and contributions to global operations.

The 92nd Air Refueling Wing played a pivotal role in the world's largest air refueling mission, a critical operation that underpinned the President's strategic deterrence capabilities and ensured their effectiveness and security, officials said.

This mission, notable for its scale and complexity, highlighted the wing's unparalleled expertise and dedication in the field of air refueling.

Established in 1971, the Omaha Trophy recognizes outstanding achievements in the U.S. Air Force. Originally created by the Strategic Air Command Consultation Committee, and later renamed the Strategic Command Consultation Committee, the trophy honors top units for their excellence in various operational domains.

The Global Operations category of the award specifically acknowledges units that demonstrate exceptional performance and innovation in global strategic operations, officials said.

This award underscores the 92nd Air Refueling Wing's commitment to excellence and its crucial role in maintaining national security and strategic readiness on a global scale.
