Expect delays on Highway 195 north of Spangle

SPANGLE – Northbound U.S. Highway 195 motorists should prepare for delays as the state Department of Transportation initiates a repaving project.

The work will cover the stretch from Mileposts 81 to 94, from Cornwall Road to Cheney-Spokane Road.

The project, which began earlier this week, involves a series of preliminary tasks such as surveying, installing guardrails and setting up curbing. Paving operations start the week of Aug. 19. Crews will begin at Cornwall Road and proceed northward.

Nighttime road work is from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday; travelers should expect delays due to single-lane closures. There will be no lane closures north of Hatch Road until after Sept. 10 to avoid conflicts with a Spokane project affecting the U.S. 195-Meadow Lane intersection.

Some daytime work will be required on the approaches and median crossovers at Hatch, Excelsior and Paradise roads. However, these areas will be open from 7-9 a.m. and 3-6 p.m.

Motorists should also be aware that the Cheney-Spokane interchange exit ramp will be subject to detours when it is closed. WSDOT advises drivers to follow posted signs for alternate routes during the project closures.
