CHENEY – In a collaborative effort that underscores their shared dedication to education, the Cheney Education Association and the Cheney School District have reached a tentative agreement.
This crucial development comes as the district prepares to welcome students back for the upcoming school year.
The agreement, announced jointly by Cheney Education Association President Meridth Lemelin and Cheney Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ben Ferney, results from extensive negotiations to address the needs of students, staff, and the wider school community.
Both teams expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing that the agreement aligns with their mutual commitment to providing a high-quality education in a secure and nurturing environment.
"As we approach the start of the new school year, we are excited to move forward together," the statement read. "Our collective focus remains on creating a positive, supportive atmosphere in which all students can learn at high levels and graduate with options for post-secondary education, careers, and civic engagement."
The successful negotiations highlight the dedication of both the CEA and the Cheney School District to fostering a positive educational environment.
As the school year nears, both parties expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in the process and conveyed their eagerness to work together to ensure a successful academic year.
The agreement signals a positive step forward for the district, as it continues to prioritize the success and well-being of its students and staff.
The association will vote on this agreement this week, possibly on Monday.
