Schmick leads district race

Schmick and Kohlmeier to advance to General Election

COLFAX — Current incumbent 9th District Representative Joe Schmick is leading in the Primary Election with 18,761 votes statewide, 64.33%.

In Whitman County Schmick has 4,363 votes out of 7,635 counted on Aug. 8.

“I want to thank all the voters in the primary,” Schmick said, “I appreciate their support. I think there’s still work to be done, and when I’m talking to folks, people are worried about the economy, public safety and government overreach.”

Dr. Pam Kohlmeier currently has the second most votes with 8,594 at the state level, 29.52%.

Dr. Kohlmeier also has the second most votes in Whitman County at 2,680 votes counted, as of Aug. 8, 35.1%.

“I’m glad to be moving on and I am excited that voters have entrusted me to move onto the next step,” Dr. Kohlmeier said.

Arianna Arends is behind at 1,743 votes state-wide, 5.99%.

Arends has 582 votes in Whitman County, 7.62%.

Arends could not be reached for comment.

A total of 7,635 votes were counted in Whitman County, as of Aug. 8.

The top two candidates will move on to the General Election Nov. 5
