Baumgartner moves forward after large lead

Praises decent, fair and open competition

SPOKANE – Spokane County Treasurer and Republican Congressional Candidate Michael Baumgartner, who led in Tuesday’s “top-two” primary, praised the electoral process and the candidates who participated.

Baumgartner will advance to the November general election where he will face Democrat Carmela Conroy, based on the preliminary vote count.

“I want to express my deep respect for all the candidates who ran in this primary, regardless of party affiliation,” Baumgartner said.

“We saw candidates from diverse backgrounds and political perspectives running respectful and earnest campaigns for Eastern Washington. Their dedication—through parades, door-to-door canvassing, and community events—has truly earned them the respect of this community. This civility stands in contrast to the negativity seen in some other campaigns.”

Baumgartner also urged Republicans to come together to support his bid against Conroy.

“Carmela Conroy is a dedicated public servant with an honorable record, but her policies do not align with the values of Eastern Washington. Republicans Brian Dansel, Jonathan Bingle, Rene Holaday, and Jacquelin Maycumber ran commendable campaigns with strong support.

I’ve listened to their concerns and will work diligently to earn their votes. Let’s unite to uphold our shared values: protecting our freedom, families, faith, and free enterprise.”

He concluded by acknowledging the contributions of 10-term Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who announced in February that she would not seek re-election.

“We owe a great debt to Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who has served with distinction for 20 years in Congress and had a notable legislative career before that. This is the first primary night in 30 years without her name on the ballot. Her legacy of honesty, integrity, hard work, and civility will not be forgotten. I hope she and her family are doing well tonight,” Baumgartner said.
