Deputies arrest two wanted suspects through ALPR, RTCC

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert, arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen license plate on July 24.

Deputies located the unoccupied vehicle, a white 2010 BMW sedan in a parking lot near W 12th Avenue and South Center Way. Upon further investigation, they found the stolen plate affixed tot he car.

The vehicle’s VIN was checked and confirmed clear, with no reports of it being stolen.

Shortly after locating the vehicle, deputies observed a man, later identified as 35-year-old Adam R. Dahlman, approaching the car and rummaging through the back seat. Deputies detained Dahlman and discovered he had an unrelated, confirmed, and fully extraditable felony warrant from the Idaho Department of Corrections. He was arrested as a fugitive.

Through their investigation, deputies identified the possible owner of the BMW as 30-year-old Rhianon T. Aguilar, who was staying in a nearby hotel. Aguilar provided paperwork indicating she had recently purchased the BMW and claimed no knowledge of the stolen license plate. A check of Aguilar’s name revealed an unrelated local misdemeanor warrant for a concealed pistol carry violation, leading to her arrest.

Although the stolen license plate was seized as evidence, deputies could not prove that either Dahlman or Aguilar knew it was stolen, so they were not charged with possession of stolen property.

Aguilar was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail on her misdemeanor warrant, with a bond set at $3,000. However, due to the Critical Jail Status agreement addressing overcrowding, she was released on her own recognizance shortly after being booked.

Dahlman was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail, where he remains held on his felony Idaho warrant pending extradition.
