Dirt Dawgs return to state American Legion despite loss

MEDICAL LAKE – Perhaps the old saying about the third time being the charm will play out for the Medical Lake Dirt Dawgs in the American Legion state A tournament?

Despite a district tournament ending 12-2 loss, July 21 at Deer Park to the Northern Lights Mountaineers in the championship game, the Dirt Dawgs are off to Yakima as the No. 2 local seed.

Heading to state for a third consecutive year, ML faces the Walla Walla Griz in the opener, July 27 at 1 p.m. They are looking to win their first game against that team this season, having lost twice in an earlier tournament at Gonzaga Prep.
