CHENEY – The Cheney Rodeo Parade delighted thousands Saturday morning, July 13, with an eclectic showcase of displays and performances.

Spectators lined First Street, eagerly awaiting floats, animals and acts.

The top trophy went to Moonlight Magic, featuring Queen Temple Gefre, Princess Madisyn Cameron, and Princess Brooklyn Norton.

The float came complete with a fire-breathing dragon and royalty defending the kingdom.

The parade was led by the Cheney Veterans of Foreign Wars, proudly carrying the colors, followed by Grand Marshal Duane Isaac. Al Parsons, the voice of the rodeo, was also a notable presence.

As kids eagerly awaited their fill of candy, miniature ponies pranced along the pavement, and rodeo queens and princesses showcased their horses and hometown pride.

Other parade winners included the West Plains Eagles Special Olympics, who received the Unmounted Trophy, Asotin County Fair Rodeo Queen Jadeyn Perin, who won the Mounted Trophy, and Dow Rocks, who took home the Car Trophy.

A highlight for both the young and old was the appearance of Towmater from CAL Cars, cleverly positioned among the candidates running for office.

The parade started an hour earlier this year to take advantage of cooler temperatures and help clear downtown area before streets reopened.
