Cheney wins pair in AA

COEUR D’ALENE — Cheney Summer Hawks hit a 2-0 week following wins of 4-3 over the CDA Lums at Thorco Field on June 28.

Game two was an easier journey as Cheney scored in the first four innings including a five-run fourth that made this a 10-run rule five-inning game.

Summer Hawks finish 1-2

CHENEY — The Cheney Single-A Summer Hawks sandwiched an 18-1 win around a pair of losses last week, 15-11 to G-Prep (June 24) and 16-2 against Mead (June 27).

All of Prep’s runs came in tow innings, seven in the third and eight in the fourth erasing a 5-0 Cheney lead.

Dirt Dawgs get offensive

MEDICAL LAKE – The Dirt Dawgs bats were on full display as they had a perfect 3-0 weeks with impressive offensive production.

Medical Lake hammered Ridgeline 12-2,, June 24, Dear Park A Stage 13-5, June 28 and the Prairie Cardinals 9-6 June 29.

State agency bans campfires

SPOKANE — The state Department of Fish and Wildlife prohibits campfires, target shooting and other activities on publicly owned lands managed by the agency.

According to agency Lands Division Manager Cynthia Wilkerson, the restrictions went into effect July 1 and will remain until further notice.

Under the restriction, the agency is banning campfires, including those in fire rings. It is also banning target shooting, fireworks, smoking outdoors, welding and using chainsaws.
