Gordon Oliver Young

Gordon Oliver Young

Sept. 13, 1938 - May 23, 2024

Gordon Oliver Young, 85, passed away May 23, 2024, with his family by his side.

Gordon was born Sept. 13, 1938, in Orchard, Neb., to Roy and Neva Mae Young.

He ventured west and married Priscila Brash and settle in the Cheney-Spangle area, where they raised two boys. Life changes and the couple went separate ways and Gordon married Sharon Blunt, who still resides at the family home.

Gordon did a stint with the Whasington ANG and enjoyed bowling (beer drinking) with the other members of the Guard. He was a Little League coach, farmer/rancher, longtime member of the Cheney Rodeo Association and manager for Cheney Grain Growers, from which he retired.

Gordon enjoyed retirement at their cabin on Sacheen Lake, taking the kids and grandkids fishing. But we think his favorite pasttime was cutting firewood - and we were thankful when he would forget his saw.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Sharon; brother, Ken; sons, Flint (Donna) and Brad (Sandy); step-children, Laurie (Art), Toni (Bruce) and Mark (Serina); along with numberous grandchildren and great grand children, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
