SkyFest set for Saturday, Sunday

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE - Fairchild Air Force Base opens its gates to the public for the SkyFest airshow this weekend.

Parking and admission are free.

The tarmac will feature numerous static displays for the public's inspection.

These include aircraft such as the B-52 bombers, T-33 jet trainer, F-35 combat aircraft, C-130 transport aircraft, KC-46 Pegasus refueling and strategic transport, T-1 Jayhawk twin-engine jet aircraft and CT-156 pilot training craft.

On the show side, the A-10C Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team will take to the skies of the West Plains showing off their skills.

The Wings of Blue parachuting team will demonstrate its maneuvers in the skies above.

The Wings of Blue travels around America showing off skills in six-way speed formation, four-way relative work, two-way free fall fly and sport accuracy.

Other military aerial shows will include A-10 Demonstration Team, P-51 Heritage Flight, KC-135 Demo Team, KC-135/B-52 Flyover, UH-1 helicopter and many other demonstration from the military side of aviation.

In addition, the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape specialists will perform a live-fire demonstration with simulation rounds.

The Jon Melby Airshow: Fear Boss is flown by Jon Melby himself as a veteran airshow pilot who started at 19 and later in 2021 created Fear Boss to help fight fears and succeed in flyer's dreams.

Other show actions to take place are The Undaunted Airshows Team Act showing their flair for the blue skies.

This aerobatic duo is a two-ship formation that separates and rejoins. These airmen love to take every chance of coming out and meeting fans giving out stickers and buttons.

On the ground, there will be the North American pyrotechnic performers using highly explosive materials, flammable fuels and fireworks to match the flight teams and ground performers choreography.

Other notable aerial action will be Yellow Thunder formation aerobatic team is also a two-plane demonstration team that perform fun maneuvers that include rolls, loops, barrel rolls, hammer heads, a tail chase and other aerobatics.

Other featured shows include Harvard T-6 formation, Acemaker T-33 and Brad Wursten Airshows of his solo flight.

Gates open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Prior to the air show, kids zone, static displays, vendors and exhibitions will open till closing. Concession stands are cashless but there will be ATMs to convert cash to card.

Aerial performances approximately starts on both days from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day events end at 4 p.m.
