MultiCare, Premera reach agreement

Agreement covers Medicare Advantage plans

WEST PLAINS – MultiCare and Premera Blue Cross have successfully negotiated a new agreement, ensuring that all MultiCare hospitals, facilities, and providers will remain in-network for patients with Premera commercial, Individual Exchange Plan, and Medicare Advantage products.

In a statement provided by Kevin Maloney, Media Relations Manager of MultiCare, the update confirms that the new agreement is effective immediately.

“This agreement ensures that all MultiCare hospitals, facilities, and providers will remain in-network for patients with Premera commercial, Individual Exchange Plan, and Medicare Advantage products,” Maloney said.

This development comes as a relief to many patients in Washington State, particularly in areas where MultiCare operates key medical facilities, such as Deaconess Hospital and Valley Hospital in Spokane, along with the Rockwood Clinic. The agreement prevents potential disruptions to healthcare services that were a concern during the negotiation period.

Maloney expressed the significance of this agreement for maintaining uninterrupted access to healthcare.

“Effective immediately, this agreement allows patients to continue accessing high-quality care without disruption,” he stated. “At MultiCare, our mission is partnering for healing and a healthy future, and this new agreement reflects our commitment to the communities we serve by maintaining essential partnerships that prioritize patient welfare.”

Amanda Lansford, a representative from Premera Blue Cross, also shared insights into the successful negotiation.

“Premera Blue Cross is pleased to share that we reached an agreement with MultiCare Health System,” said Lansford. “This new agreement ensures that our members continue to have access to quality care at an affordable price and that MultiCare is fairly compensated.”

Lansford highlighted Premera’s approach to the negotiations, emphasizing their commitment to customers.

“As we’ve always said, these negotiations are not about Premera; they are about our customers. We serve as their advocate during these discussions as we work with provider partners on practical solutions to keep healthcare affordable and accessible,” she said.
