Local high schools ready for graduations

Commencements planned for Liberty, Cheney and Medical Lake

CHENEY — Graduation ceremonies for four local high schools are set to take place next week, marking a significant milestone for the Class of 2024.

Cheney High School’s graduation ceremony will take place at the McCarthey Athletic Center on Gonzaga University’s campus, 801 N. Cincinnati St., Spokane.

The event, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6; tickets are not required for entry.

Parking is available in the south lot and the BARC parking deck one block north.

Disabled parking spaces are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis in designated areas with appropriate identification required.

Graduates will attend two mandatory rehearsals:

• Wednesday, June 5 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am in the Cheney High School main gym

• Thursday, June 6 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

On commencement day, graduates must arrive by 6:30 p.m. at the loading docks, while guests can enter the venue starting at the same time.

The ceremony will include security measures, including bag checks and metal detectors.

Diplomas will be distributed immediately following the ceremony in the Herak Club room until 9:30 pm. Graduates must return any borrowed items, clear any fines and provide signatures to receive their diplomas.

Those unable to pick up their diplomas on the day can make alternative arrangements with the main office.

MEDICAL LAKE

Medical Lake High School will host commencement from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, also at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

The ceremony promises to be a memorable event for students and their families as they celebrate the culmination of their high school journey.

A mandatory rehearsal for graduates is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 5 at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Students are expected to attend in regular school clothes as no special attire is required for the practice.

Graduates will receive their diplomas immediately following the ceremony.

Those unable to attend the graduation or who have outstanding fines can pick up their diplomas at the counseling office until June 28, after which any remaining diplomas will be mailed to the students’ homes.

The guest speaker for the ceremony will be Miss Ashley Watts, who is expected to deliver an inspiring address to the graduates and attendees. The event is set to be a fitting celebration of the hard work and achievements of the Medical Lake High School Class of 2024.

LIBERTY

In Spangle, the Class of 2024 will graduate this Saturday — at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

The ceremony will be at Liberty High School, providing a familiar and fitting backdrop for this important occasion.

Students will gather with teachers, family and friends to commemorate their achievements and look forward to future endeavors.

There’s a rehearsal being at 12:30 p.m. May 31, when seniors will wear caps and gowns while traversing middle and elementary school campuses.

THREE SPRINGS

Three Springs High School in Cheney will host its graduation ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 7 at Hargreaves Hall on the Eastern Washington University campus.

This event will mark the end of high school for Three Springs students, celebrating their hard work in an academic setting that highlights their accomplishments.
