January 4, 1943 to May 7, 2024
Tech. Sgt. Aubrey Ray, USAF (Ret.), 81, went to his heavenly home with Jesus on May 7, 2024, in Medical Lake, Wash.
Ray was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Langdale, Ala., to C.D. Henderson and Bertie Vira Baldwin.
He was the youngest of their six children.
Ray enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in July 1963 and retired in April 1984 with 20-plus years of honorable service to our country as the fuels su pervisor at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. Other duty assignments included, Homestead AFB in Florida, Osan Air Base in Korea, Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Yokota Air Base in Japan, Barksdale AFB in Parish, La., and back to Fairchild AFB.
While at Homestead AFB during 1965, he met Lahnie Joan Craver as a "blind date." They were married in December of 1966 and were life partners lovingly sharing 57 ½ years together.
They welcomed daughter, Lanissa Joy, in May 1971.
After military retirement, Ray worked for Bank of America, (formerly Seattle First National Bank) in their Security Department.
He again retired in 2006.
Survivors include spouse, Lahnie at home; daughter, Lanissa J. Cooper; son-in-law, Senior Master Sgt. (Ret.) Jay J. Cooper; granddaughter, Jordyn Alexis Cooper of Russell, Penn.; many nieces, nephews, extend ed family and friends.
A Committal Service with Military Honors will be at 11 a..m. May 30, 2024, at Washington State Veteran's Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, Wash. Following the above, a Celebration of Life gathering will be at the Ramada Spokane Airport, 8909 W. Airport Drive, Spokane, Wash.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Airway Heights Baptist Church, 12322 W. Sunset Hwy, Airway Heights, WA 99001.
Special appreciation to Spokane County Fire District No. 3 and Spokane County Sheriff's Office for their kindness's extended to us. Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
